The Thai language is a tonal-language, heavily influenced by Pali [extinct language] and dont be fooled by some fellas claiming that Thai is like Chinese or the Tieochew dialect. It is NOT. Thai grammar resembles Malay grammar whereby the adjective is behind the noun it modifies, e.g.
nom yai [nom = breast; yai = big]
nom lek [nom = breast; lek = small]
hat yai [hat = beach; yai = big] thats what Hatyai supposed to be mean!
Tenses are represented by words added to the verbs>
kin [to eat]
kin liao [eat - already = eaten or ate]
gamlang kin [still doing - eat = eating now]
jak kin [shall - eat = will eat in the future or want to eat]
learn these tense-modifying words and your vocab will be built up faster.
Like wise, words are added to make up the "comparatives and superlatives" found in English>

dee ti-soot [good - extremely = best]
they can be used with verbs too>

rak ter gua [love you more than someone else]
