Several memorable bomb attacks in Hatyai for past 10 years as follows:
3rd April 2005, three bombs exploded at the Hatyai international airport, Carrefour hypermarket chain store and Green World Palace Hotel. Two people were killed and 69 were injured, mostly foreigners.
16th September 2006, six bomb explosions at Deep Wonder Pub, Odeon department store, traditional massage house, an ATM machine in front of Big C department store, Lee Gardens store, a toilet beside Coloseum theatre and Diana department store. Five people were killed and dozens injured.
31st March 2012, a car bomb exploded in front of Lee Garden Plaza Hotel killing three people and injuring about 300.
6th May 2014, first bomb attack occurred in front of 7-Eleven convenience store on Polpichai road just opposite the Southern Engineering College, five people were injured, and second bomb blast took place at the parking lot of Hatyai police station, no injury.
There are few more bombing in municipal area of Hatyai. More frequent bomb and shooting attacks in Muslim-majority provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani, and Yala.
However, WHO estimate road accident death between 18~19k per year in Thailand, more than those Muslim insurgency had killed.
Whether where to chiong, its individual bro opinion. Depend his fate and luck, advise to be more street smart and stay away from popular crowded places.
Have fun. Cheers
