It is a pub and restaurant environment. So it is pretty courageous of him to just walk up to them in an environment where you can hear one another speak clearly. He must be able to keep the convo going, coming up with things to say non stop to prevent any awkward moments. Clubs will be easier as there will be no awkward silence. The thing is I dont think normal thai girls are very very difficult to up. But the method of approaching them straight up without having any kind of association significantly reduces your chance. It doesnt matter who you look like, you are just playing against the odds. If you have known them through apps and chatted with them for some time, and letting them know you are coming to bkk and they happy to meet and hang out with you, and you treat them well like a gentleman, your chances significantly goes up. Thats my experience, and I am no superstar lookalike.
