The tax part I’m not so sure. Pretty sure the houses don’t report income properly since all transactions are mostly cash. The OKT pay the gals also in cash. So let’s say whole Geylang 1 year do 10m profit after all expenses. You tax corporate tax rate is only 1.7m. If money is their motivation imagine how much money can be made by rezoning whole Geylang area in to commercial. Just collect property tax is already more than that measly 1.7m

it is still considered taxes collected from the operators ( brothel/house owner's income and house OKT's income), regardless they are a business entity or individual

the gasmen cannot possibly collect any form of taxes from the illegal pimps or syndicates

No way to make GL better. Covid started the ball really rolling for the sunsetting of the entire GL "legal" (actually only tolerated) brothel sex industry. Also nowadays the ones in power and in law enforcement are less pragmatic and much more ideological.

COVID killed GL. I don't see how it's going to come back. 10 years ago was wild, felt like Sukhumvit or Angeles City or Pattaya. I miss those days.

Now it's just a couple of legal houses. Everywhere else only for makan, and shops run by Banglas.

10 years ago it was wild in the sense there are a lot of Freelancers on the street, this I agree it was really wild. But those days came with many problems, with uncontrolled vice trade on the street there were extortions and murder and injury, those days were messy until the clean sweep. remembered those days, Singaporean ladies dont even dare to go to Geylang fear of being misunderstood as one of the freelancers. I have a few lady friends who were asked "you how much ah" by passer bys.

Maybe we can get better stock not just from China, but maybe from Taiwan and Myanmar. Some parts of Taiwan are still quite poor. But babes from these two countries not on AV list yet
